The Ferry, Shoreham
If you ever find yourself wandering the charming streets of Shoreham-by-Sea and stumble upon East Street, chances are your eye will catch The Ferry, Shoreham-a laid-back gem nestled at 1-3 East St, that’s quickly becoming a go-to spot for casual dining and good vibes. This isn’t just another pub or trendy bar trying too hard. It’s a place that knows how to balance atmosphere, drinks, and food with zero pretense, and that’s exactly what makes it stand out.
From the moment you step in, The Ferry, Shoreham gives off a cozy, welcoming energy. There’s a casual elegance to the space, which becomes even more inviting when you realize they offer outdoor seating-perfect for catching a coastal breeze while sipping your favorite drink. Whether you're a local popping in after work or a solo diner on a relaxed weekend stroll, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel right at home without needing to try too hard.
Let’s talk cocktails-because this is where The Ferry shines. They serve up a solid Mojito that hits all the right notes: minty, zesty, and refreshing. The bartenders clearly know what they’re doing, and if you’re into spirits or wines, there’s a generous selection to explore. The beer list isn’t an afterthought either. In fact, it’s one of the highlights. From craft picks to reliable pints, the variety here suits both casual sippers and true hop heads.
Food-wise, The Ferry, Shoreham offers more than just typical pub fare. Their charcuterie platter is a standout-think a well-balanced combo of cured meats, cheeses, and flavorful bites that pair beautifully with a chilled glass of wine or even one of their signature cocktails. The foie gras, while not your everyday order, is a rich, buttery treat worth indulging in, especially if you’re into finer flavors. Add in the vibrant touch of roasted peppers for a little smoky sweetness, and you’ve got a plate that really elevates the whole dining experience.
One of the low-key perks here? They actually allow outside food. That might sound counterintuitive for a spot that serves food, but it adds a layer of flexibility that many diners appreciate-especially during group outings where not everyone craves the same thing. And while they don’t do delivery or takeaway, the whole point of The Ferry is to be there. To unwind. To sip slowly. To soak in the Shoreham vibe.
What also sets this place apart is its versatility. It’s great for solo dining-something not every venue gets right. The layout and service style cater to individuals who want a quiet bite, a thoughtful drink, and maybe even a moment to people-watch. You won’t feel rushed, awkward, or like you’re taking up space meant for groups. The Ferry respects solo diners and gives them room to enjoy the experience on their own terms.
Another plus is their bar service. You can enjoy full meals right at the bar, which is ideal if you’re after something quick yet quality. Free water refills, a wide alcohol range (including spirits and wines), and no-nonsense hospitality complete the experience.
All in all, The Ferry, Shoreham isn’t about gimmicks. It’s about creating a space where good drinks, flavorful bites, and a relaxed atmosphere come together effortlessly. Whether you’re in it for the cocktails, the charcuterie, or just a quiet afternoon with a glass of wine, this spot delivers-and then some.

Well its not been in there before, pleasantly surprised clean plenty of room nice corner area were we all sat (5) so not to be interrupted while talking. Will be back. Kelly bar staff very nice & cheerful.
Great setting, loved the interior. Food was pretty good but really let down by those croquettes. The sauce was bland and they just tasted like Iceland oven food. The prawns were very tasty! And the wine was delicious. In terms of value for money it’s pretty expensive, I would expect more from the food.
I went to my first silent disco there, loved it, and have eaten in there many times, great food too
